During tough economy, district counts on long-time partnership - 06/15/09 >In Stevenson-Carson School District, the state of the economy has forced budget reductions to the tune of $750,000 for the 2009-10 school year, with more potential cuts to come. The good news is that local businesses are stepping up now, as they have in the past, and helping the district during this tough time. Skamania Lodge will offer Stevenson-Carson School District the use of a conference room and AV equipment for its June 27 board retreat at no cost. The retreat is an annual event and an important time for school directors and administrators to work together on the district's vision and direction.

The district has already eliminated several teaching and administrative positions, restricted travel, frozen the superintendent's salary and revised athletic schedules to save costs.

Skamania Lodge and Stevenson-Carson School District have a long and valued partnership and in times of financial difficulties for both, the partnership is more important than ever.
