In Lane County, March for Babies will take place on April 24th at Alton Baker Park. Businesses and individuals can sign up and raise funds online at www.marchforbabies.org.
"I'm serving as the 2010 Revenue Chair for March for Babies because I believe this is our best opportunity to bring visibility to March for Babies," says Jill Hoggard-Green. "If we can give a child a healthy birth, we've had a positive impact on their future quality of life."

The most urgent infant health problem in the U.S. today is premature birth. It affects more than half a million babies each year, with the number growing every day. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities. March of Dimes is committed to reducing this toll by funding research to find the answers to premature birth and providing comfort and information to families who are affected.
This year, donations raised through March for Babies will go farther by funding critical March of Dimes programs and directly helping local families in need. When individuals raise $500 or more, items ranging from a year's supply of prenatal vitamins to cribs and car seats will be donated on the individual's behalf to a family in need in the community the money was raised.
"We stand for babies, all babies, which means we stand for moms, too," Elizabeth Joscelyn, March of Dimes State Director for Oregon and Southwest Washington said. "Our new walker mission incentives reward you and enhance our support of the March of Dimes mission through direct benefits to moms in need right in your community. So now, every dollar you raise gives back twice. And we think that's a pretty good thing." The new mission incentives for families in need are made possible by a donation from US Bank.
March of Dimes invested more than $1 million in research and programs in Oregon and Southwest Washington alone in 2009. Scientists are working to improve the health of babies by seeking the causes and solutions for preterm birth.
Locally, March for Babies is sponsored by Liberty Northwest, PacificSource Health Plans, KeyBank, Pacific Power, First Tech Credit Union, Columbia Sportswear, US Bank, Kuni Automotive, Farmers Insurance, ODS, Big 5, Kendall Subaru, Sacred Heart Medical Center of PeaceHealth, OnPoint Community Credit Union, and KVAL.
